Photovoltaics has developed in Germany to a booming market. This development was substantially supported by generous legal framework, in particular, a guaranteed purchase commitment with a price guarantee included. In this way, the German legislator wanted to drive the development of alternative energy and position Germany as a leading global player in renewable energy.
However, the photovoltaic developed much faster than the law predicted. In particular, individuals discovered the solar energy as an investment, and supplements their portfolio. Above all, to guarantee the price was attractive investment in solar systems, so that investors preferably in collaboration with farmers on agricultural land large photovoltaic plants built and operated this because of the price guarantee by the Federal indeed profitable.
