A. The Intercultural Complementarity Principle

Complementarity principle refers to the art of integrity. As man approaches his global and cosmic vocation and stature he will realize a global consciousness, a consciousness of the entire world, as he represents and incarnates this world. He is the son of the earth as such and he will realize more and more of his nature until the totality of the physical origin of his being enters the horizon of his awareness. That potentiality is there slumbering within him. It is only due to the limitations man has been imposing on man and keeps on doing that the earth, planetary, global or consciousness of all-encompassing unity and solidarity of the entire planet, with all its people that all together have the same origin, is impeded. Globalization triggers and fosters this awareness and consciousness. One family of mankind on one planet in one spatiotemporal context that varies culturally and individually and thereby enhances its richness and variety in every way.

Such is the reality we are part of in this tiny spot of the infinity of the universe. In consciousness we can embrace this pinhead sized spot many times. That dwarfs humans and their affairs to insignificance. On the other hand, towards the complementary extreme, the subatomic nano worlds are similarly pushing further and further the horizons towards their own infinity: And their can only be one infinity. With no end being in sight in either direction, neither the microscopic nor the macroscopic, they may well turn out to be two complementary aspects of the infinity of ONE. And what happens in matter and energy is replicated at the level of human awareness. The horizons of awareness evolve until they merge in the wholeness of the potentiality latent in the Earth i.e. in man. And when the whole field is charted materially, energetically and in consciousness they all may turn out to be diverse vistas of the one at diverse levels of complexity. The trend is towards recovering and unearthing that unity which is the source of everything, not at the level of the clay, but rather at the highest potentiality inherent in it. Nothing will have changed except evolving reconfigurations of the dynamics inherent in the Earth. Energy, matter and consciousness therefore appear as complementary aspects of the One. Man is the focal point of the dynamics of these micro- macroscopic complementary aspects of the world. He is the most highly evolved manifestation of the Earth, where all the phenomena are represented informationally and are accessible through the mirror of the world which is consciousness.

When human consciousness divides itself and adopts the stances of the diverse divisions it no longer truly represents objective creation but rather engenders a similarly divided reality of its own making which appears antagonistic in every way. As the loss of the objective representation of the world increases, conflicts emerge between the relativized unity because any relativized fragment has a memory of its unitary origin and wishes to adopt the stance of that unity whose information remains in it all the time, however superseded by the relative. It wishes to position itself as the absolute. That explains the absolutist worldviews and intractable particularisms that desire to colonize and control the world on the false assumption of and erroneous pretense to the legitimate ownership of the one and the absolute. And that logic prevails until the One is rehabilitated in consciousness as the true One instead of the myriads of relativized Ones and Absolutes that wishes to take its place while they function on the basis of their residual information of the one which they have never lost.

In order to correct the misperception of the One manifesting as the relativities of views and worldviews taking its place and the subjective overriding objective truth, the mechanism of dualisation of the One needs to be elucidated and to enter human awareness. Once the dualisation mechanism and principle that alienated the creatures, in particular man from the One, is perceived, there appear two realities in consciousness, i.e. one which is the absolute One that has never changed fundamentally and can probably never change and the parts of the One that assumed separate forms of identity and existence from the One. So, the One and its parts appear – once dualisation has occurred – as the complementary aspects of existence. This awareness engenders a consciousness that reintegrates the parts with the One and reestablishes unity based on complementarity, unity in diversity. This reintegration leads to the integrity of Creation, man and cultures.

As long as the realization of the dualisation-based complementary reality does not occur conflict among the parts of the One and between the parts and the One will go on because they pretend to be absolute and legitimate representatives of the One. They will have to become aware of their relativity with regard to other relativities and the true One. This occurs, at a first step, by their realization of being complementary parts of the whole. Via the milestones of their perception of duality and complementarity the One, which is without contradiction, can be recovered because all contradictions are transcended at the essential level of the One.

When the parts step back the one recovers the field, which the former have erroneously tried to supersede, assuming themselves to be the absolute and legitimate pretenders to the absolute One. The One will always redeem erroneous assumptions and pretensions to the One by the parts as the ocean always recovers the waves which keep emerging from it. That preserves the integrity of creation and man, which human relativity tends to misperceive and to reconfigure according to its limited understanding due a separation from the integral and unchangeable One, which is the logic that sustains the one terrain of existence.

Somehow the One and its dynamics seem to slip out of the horizons of human consciousness and the cycles of division set in until they are redeemed by the integrative logic of the One without alternative. Otherwise a process of atomization of existence would engender irreversible chaos. Yet, the One reverses the parts pretending to the One and trying to colonize it with their limitations. And as parts they cannot prevail but are remerged in the One as long as they are not seamlessly aligned with the order and integrity of the One. Thus waves upon waves and cycles upon cycles occur until the One prevails, because it is the timeless truth that cannot be alienated unless the discontinuity of the world itself sets in.

Ethics is part of the art of relativization of players. The stance implied by ethics and morals proactively promotes the One through social intelligence and all-embracing altruism, which are conducive to the One and therefore the integrity of man and Creation. Alternatively, spirit of humility and essential non-assertiveness inherent in true ethics leaves the terrain to the One to bring about its integrity, which the relative is incapable of.

On the relativity of cultural diversity

No cultural diversity but rather a perceptual diversity:

THERE IS NO CULTURAL DIVERSITY

THERE IS, HOWEVER, A DIVERSITY OF THE DEPTH OF PERCEPTION OF EXISTENCE!

The experience of diversity seems to arise as a consequence of a lopsided perception that ignores or refuses to perceive the wholeness of existence referred to metaphorically as the cultural complementarity principle of unity and diversity that has an inkling of the integrality and integrity of creation. The cultural spell under which the world presently is appears therefore as a consequence of perception that is a culture consciousness with limited awareness. Culture seen as such is an act of consciousness. And the type of culture consciousness a player has cocreates the cultural reality within and around him.

From there one may even infer that culture being an act of consciousness based on perception and awareness it cannot be conceived of apart from the human dimension of consciousness. The cultural discourse that fills libraries and the pockets of culture gurus and the lecture halls of universities alike is based on a culture paradigm that cannot have any permanence and sustainable impact on globalization. If it is not enhanced and complemented it can mislead the whole world as fascism and communism have misled the millions and the masses until they were put in their true context and understood more fully. If culture that some assume holds the place of these worldviews and errors of the past at present is not put in its true context likewise it may have the same impact and destiny as those cultural errors. Therefore the present cultural paradigm imperatively requires the correction and completion of its edifice, which is the purpose of the inquiry.

This epistemological perception of culture and cultural diversity does not altogether eclipse the practical value of cultural diversity. The first is helpful in cultural problem...
