Die Wissenschaftler waren zum ersten Mal in der Lage, die hochwertigen spektralen Eigenschaften der Fourier-Transformations-Massenspektrometrie mit einer r\u00e4umlichen Aufl\u00f6sung im niedrigen Mikrometerbereich bei der Bildgebung von biologischem Gewebe zu kombinieren. <!--more-->Dadurch kann der Informationsgehalt und die Verl\u00e4sslichkeit der bildgebenden Massenspektrometrie wesentlich verbessert werden. R\u00f6mpp und G\u00fcnther wandten die Methode bei Phospholipiden, Neuropeptiden und pharmakologisch wirksamen Verbindungen an. Die erzeugten massenspektrometrischen Bilder zeigen eine exzellente \u00dcbereinstimmung mit histologischen Merkmalen und liefern dar\u00fcber hinaus hochspezifische molekulare Informationen. Aktuell werden weitere Anwendungsgebiete untersucht, dies beinhaltet klinische Fragestellungen (z.B. menschliches Tumorgewebe) sowie Proben von Pflanzen und Insekten.<\/p> <p>Andreas R\u00f6mpp hat Umweltchemie an der Universit\u00e4t Bayreuth und an der Colorado State University in den USA studiert. Nach seiner Promotion an der Universit\u00e4t Mainz im Jahre 2003 arbeitete er als Postdoktorand am FOM-Institute AMOLF in Amsterdam in den Niederlanden. Zurzeit ist er Gruppenleiter am Institut f\u00fcr Anorganische und Analytische Chemie der Justus-Liebig-Universit\u00e4t in Gie\u00dfen.
